    Please note! Because the volume of grant applications we receive has increased exponentially, we are not able to follow up each completed grant request with content questions. It is VERY important that your grant be complete when submitted; incomplete applications can’t be funded. We would much prefer to talk with you before you submit to insure that your application is strong!     GRANT REQUESTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OR EQUIPMENT OVER $50,000 REQUIRE 3 BIDS. PLEASE CONTACT US WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
  • Small School grants: Cycle opens in April, closes December 31. Accredited schools are welcome to apply. School districts can receive up to $10,000; school district is eligible for 1 or more grants if its projects are selected for funding.
  • The Straker Charitable Foundation intends the Small School Grant to help with projects such as field trips, classroom libraries, educational equipment and supplies, start-up funds for learning projects, etc. For larger requests (more than $10,000.00) schools should apply during the spring or fall grant cycles.

    Because educational needs change and occur throughout the year, the Foundation is opening the school grant application from April 15, 2024, until December 31, 2024. Requests will be considered on their merits, and each district may receive up to $10,000.00 in grant funding. When the funding limit is reached, schools in that district will need to defer their requests until the following year.

    We require the school treasurer’s signature on all grant applications.

Small School Grants

Accepting Applications: Monday, April 15, 2024 to Tuesday, December 31, 2024

The Foundation enthusiastically supports activities that allow students to broaden their sites through travel, training, and experience. It’s important to us, too, though, that students have what our President and Executive Director Susan Holdren calls ''some skin in the game.'' Before granting schools and youth organizations funding for high school field trips, conference attendance in other cities, and sports, arts, and academic camps for student group, we’ll ask, ''What have the students done toward fund-raising? How much money have they earned?'' If the students and their advisors have diligently worked toward earning at least a portion of the funds needed, our Foundation will be glad to hear more about their project and their needs.
