The Wilds

: Cabins at Straker Lake (2018) and Hiking Trail dedicated to the memory of Susan Tucks Rooksby (2023)

The Wilds opened the Cabins at Straker Lake, seven cabins and a multipurpose lodge, in 2018. J. William Straker, a World War II veteran, inspired and supported the creation of the retreat center through the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation. The cabins provide the Mighty Oaks Warriors, an intensive peer-based program for members of the military and first responders (current or veteran), with its first location in Ohio and the Midwest. Guests can also reserve the cabins.

In 2019 the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation supported the installation of a hiking trail around Straker Lake. Construction will begin in Fall 2020.
